Bonnie Hyde

Founder

Bonnie Hyde, born and raised in mainland China, ventured to the United States in pursuit of higher education and the freedom to explore diverse perspectives. Driven by her unwavering belief in the significance of early childhood education, language development, and cultural identity, she embarked on a mission to make a tangible difference in children's literacy.

This led her to establish the American Born Chinese Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring young children have access to free bilingual early reading materials. With the goal of fostering bilingualism and embracing cultural diversity, the foundation proudly hosts the vibrant Los Angeles Kids Book Festival.

The LA Kids Book Festival offers families a memorable day filled with entertainment, educational activities, and literary adventures. The festival serves as a platform to promote bilingualism in every language, reflecting the rich tapestry of Los Angeles' diverse population.

Through this annual community event, Bonnie and her team provide additional support for the distribution of free bilingual books and educational materials to families throughout the United States. Through this philanthropic endeavor, Bonnie and the festival organizers bridge gaps in accessibility and ensure that every family—regardless of income or background—can benefit from quality bilingual educational resources that celebrate cultural heritage and promote early literacy.
